  • The bad news? Mica decided she didn’t want to run. I think that she just didn’t want to miss the football game. She was happy to stay behind, but I was a little disappointed. The race today went well. Mia came in 10th with a time of 19:43. She got to stand on the podium and get a medal, so that was great. We’re hanging out in the hotel, resting up for tomorrow. Another day, another race.(0) #
  • I finally watched Pan’s Labyrinth.  LOVED IT!  A fairy tale for grown ups…(5) #
  • When I reviewed The New World, I messed up the form and haven’t found a way to go back and fix it.  I didn’t enter my review and hit six stars by accident.  Damn movie plugin.  If you want to know what I *would* have said, read this one.(1) #
  • I’ve been looking for a good movie review plugin and I just found one!  This is more for my benefit than yours, but if you are interested, a list of recent movies will now be located at the bottom of this page.(2) #

Who doesn’t love movies?

Since my day consisted mostly of laundry, cooking and cleaning, I won’t go there. Instead, I’ll mention a few films that I’ve seen recently.

Pride and Prejudice

We watched this late on a weekend night with the older girls. I found it predictable, but in a good way. I’m a sucker for period movies like this. The rest of the family was bored to tears.

Yours, Mine and Ours

Not as good as the original, but cute. I might like it better if I had only seen it once. The kids have watched it at least six times, so the charm is wearing thin. Unrealistic, but big family movies always are.

Prime

Why did I waste my precious time on this movie? I wasn’t expecting much and I was still disappointed. Bleh.

Proof

I really, really, really wanted to like this movie. Something about Gwenyth Paltrow playing crazy is interesting to me. I like the idea of an unstable intellectual, walking the fine line between genius and insanity. The verdict? It was okay. It could have been great, but it wasn’t.

November

This is the movie I’ve enjoyed the most and the only one I want to see again. I made the mistake of watching it when I was working so I missed too much. This is a detail oriented movie, so actually watching all of it is important. It is about a photographer whose boyfriend is killed at a convenience store. The scenes play over and over, with changes each time. At the end, it wasn’t clear [at least to me] what the hell really happened. I like that.

Flightplan

This might have been okay as a date movie in a theater with buttered popcorn and a Coke, but it fell a little flat in my living room. The plot was a stretch. The writing sucked. It was boring and the acting wasn’t good enough to save it. Bleh.

Memoirs of a Geisha

Beautiful. It was a gorgeous movie and after seeing it, I thought it deserved more recognition than it got. It was definitely better than Pride and Prejudice.

I have 11:14, but haven’t opened it yet. Mike bought The Ring Two, but I’m not going to watch it. Yuck. I’m always looking for good movies, so if you have a recommendation please leave it in the comments.
