Technically, I’m not done yet. I still need to take a science lab over the summer, but other than that I’m done with my BA in Sociology (Minor in Anthropology). Since there is no commencement ceremony for summer graduates, I got to walk with the spring class. I’m taking three classes this summer and will start graduate school in the fall. Grades were posted today and I am more than a little relieved. I was sure that I was going to get a B in my Social Research: Methods class.
In other news, I got a job. Work during the day, school at night and five kids still at home. It’s funny… You wouldn’t believe how much crap I’ve had to listen to over the years because I was a stay at home mom. Everyone acts like I don’t do anything. Now that I’m working, I get to hear about all the stuff I don’t do anymore because I am at work. Figures. Can’t win for losing! Seriously, though, it is a big adjustment and not just for everyone else. I feel a little guilty because I really like working and getting paid for it is even better.
We are busier than ever. Butterfly is still in softball and plays one or two games a week. This weekend she is in a tournament and Mike is entering another chile cook off. I’m tired, but happy… and so grateful to everyone who has supported me since I returned to school. It has been a lot of work, but so worth it.

Wow!
Congratulations Kristal!
Not only on the grades and job, but for being a terrific mom and role model to your children.
Yay for graduating! Yay for a job! I hope everyone adjusts soon.
You are awesome!
This is awesome. Congratulations on graduating and on the job!
There’s an old saying that if you need to get something done, just turn to the person who already has the most to do, and it will be handled. To me, you epitomize the person who has ten times more to do than anyone else I know, yet somehow manages to keep a smile on your face, food on your family’s table, model responsible adulthood for your kids, and now you’re adding “juggling” to that repertoire. Well done, Kristal! Here’s to enjoying the well-earned and well-deserved personal rewards that come with those accomplishments — and also to enjoying the paycheck!
